FitnessEdge.net Grand Opening! a.k.a. Hello World

What is this?

FitnessEdge.net is a site for those fascinated about fitness and staying fit…

This site is dedicated to staying physically fit, fitness psychology, maximizing human potential, and those who are at physical fitness extremes. The knowledge, techniques, advice, and stories presented on this site are intended to be analyzed and scrutinized.

Therein Lies the Twist…

By studying not just the latest health science, but extreme individuals, fitness techniques and philosophies, I hope to uncover things that will provide us ALL with a fitness edge. My vision for this site is not to have a typical health resource (visit MayoClinic if you want that), but a resource that includes information on health/body oddities, standard and non-standard workout philosophies, fitness ideas that might be considered taboo, and a look at various things all these so-called “experts” tell us we should do.

But I can’t do this alone

We have the power to leapfrog scientists…

If all of us (that includes YOU the reader) share our stories, we can learn from each other and seek some common denominators for what gets results. We can use our combined empirical evidences to help us reach our own consensus on what will give us a fitness edge and what won’t. I want to know what you’ve seen and what your take is on various fitness advice. I want you to open your mind, read what others say, and form your own educated opinion. As we grow, I will be putting up polls at the end of discussions to illustrate the consensus of opinions.

Ask yourself when you read…and then comment!

  • Does the post make sense to you?
  • Is it consistent with what you know?
  • Turn it upside down…What would doing opposite lead to?
  • Have you or someone you know done something similar?
  • Is this new or old news to you?
  • Could this be debunked?
  • Do you know something better?

I will frequently turn comments in to their own posts with full credit to the author if I think the response is interesting.

Who am I?

Just a normal dude…

I’m pretty average, I have a BMI of 23 and I don’t workout very often. I used to be quite overweight however (BMI 28) and I slimmed down dramatically over a period of 2 years. How did I do it? I’m still trying to figure that out actually…you see I’ve never really worked out in my life. Heck I mostly play video games! This is part of my inspiration for this site. Now before you jump to conclusions, I’ve had physical exams and the doctors agree that I’m healthy. I do have some ideas as to why I lost so much weight but I will save it for future post discussions.

All I would like you the reader to understand is that I’m fascinated by the human body and its ability to physically adapt to purposeful-artificial stress. I want to know all the things that a human being can do to maximize physical fitness. Be this from conventional methods or unconventional, well understood to mostly unknown, legitimate to taboo. If it increases physical fitness I want to know about it, scrutinize it, analyze it…and I want you to do it with me with your own understandings.

Thank you for visiting FitnessEdge.com, together we can make this an awesome (albeit slightly controversial) fitness resource.
