What Does MK-677 Stand For?

MK-677 is one of the developmental code names for the growth hormone secretagogue Ibutamoren Mesylate. Other developmental code names of Ibutamoren include MK-0677 and L-163191, it was also briefly marketed under the brand name Oratrope™.[1]

Is MK-677 a SARM?

No MK-677 (Ibutamoren) is not a SARM. Although is often marketed as a SARM (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator) it is actually a non-peptide growth hormone secretagogue.

What Does Ibutamoren MK-677 Do?

As a growth hormone (GH) secretagogue, MK-677 promotes secretion of GH and increases IGF-1 levels. In doing so, MK-677 mimics the use of GH by promoting an increase in muscle mass, but does so without the side effects normally associated with GH use.

By increasing GH levels, MK-677 may have the following benefits:
